Lake Tahoe Area Ski and Board Resort closings
I found a list of ski and board closings on Accuweather.com. Many are closed already but for those that are open, the conditions should be pretty good after the last storm dumped up to 20″ of snow on some of the resorts. Looks like Squaw Valley will be open well into May with Alpine Meadows offering a last hoorah this weekend.

Every spring the town of Danville CA comes out with a Summer Activity Guide for all ages. The guide includes everything from special events (like the annual 4th of July parade) to summer camps for kids of all ages that include any sport you can think of (t-ball, baseball, soccer, swimming, football, lacrosse, bowling, tennis, softball, even vocal lessons). It has great ideas for things to get your kids involved with during the summer. Even if you don’t have kids, there are classes for adults on various subjects and activities.

Swim Lessons in San Ramon CA
If you need someone to teach your kids to swim in the Danville CA or San Ramon CA area then Splash Swim School is the place to take them. Splash is located at 2411 Old Crow Canyon Rd. in San Ramon. It’s behind Home Depot.
They have 9 different levels for teaching that they call ribbon levels. Each level is specific to the child’s swimming ability. The child can graduate to the next level at any time.![]()
My 3 year old daughter is in the first level. They have this ingenious bench constructed of PVC pipe for the children to sit on waiting their turn. It works very well.
They can be reached at (925) 838-SWIM
Adding a Swimming Pool
If you are planning to add a pool for recreation or to add value to your home you might want to do some research first. I found this great post on maintaining your pool and and the costs to maintain. It is from The Homewerx, Inc. Inspection blog. One thing that wasn’t covered is the option of solar heating.
If you already have a swimming pool here is a post on winterizing your pool.
